Why besummoned is being built

Last changed on

Telling people the what, when, and where of an event, and telling the host that you will be attending is just useful.

Who is besummoned for?

I have worked as a software developer consultant for some time, and I know an important aspect of high-performing teams is to have a good social environment. Social gatherings are fun and useful, and we tend to use rallly.com for finding a time that works for everyone. I love that service and this application is heavily inspired by it.

Besummoned is useful for parties and other social events with friends, but I think it's especially useful for teams and companies. The idea is to facilitate giving basic information about an event, and to make it easy for people to say if they are coming or not. Besummoned will also let people add the event to their calendars with a single click.

No signup required

What I like about Rallly is that it doesn't require you to sign up. You just create an event and share the link. I want to keep that simplicity.

Of course, not requiring users to sign up means I have to be creative in how I let hosts manage their events.

There are ways to facilitate this so long as the event creator is using the same device and browser that they used to create the event. I will be using local storage to make this work.

I will also have a way for people to sign up and create an account. This will be useful for people who want to keep track of the events they have created and attended.

This will be a safer way to manage events, so that if you lose your browsers local storage, you can still manage your events from any device.
